This project involves the design of a User Interface (UI) for a food sharing platform as part of my end-of-studies project. The goal was to create a functional and pleasing UI for the platform, enabling users to easily share and discover homemade or surplus food within their local community.
Key Components
User Profiles
Users can create and customize profiles to showcase their cooking skills, food preferences, and availability. Profiles also include past sharing history and contact information.
Food Listings
Users can post detailed food listings, including images, descriptions, portion sizes, and pickup/delivery options. These listings are the core of the platform.
Geolocation Integration
Geolocation integration in the project enables the platform to display food options based on their proximity to the user. This means that when someone looks for food, the system lists the closest options first. This feature simplifies the process of finding nearby food and strengthens the sense of community in food sharing by making it more convenient for users to connect with local sharers.
Design Process
Research and Analysis
The project started with an examination of existing food sharing platforms. This involved understanding what users needed and what issues they encountered. The insights gained from this research were used to guide the design process.
Wireframing and Prototyping
The design work began with creating sketches/wireframes to plan out how the important pages should look and function. These wireframes were then used to create a prototype of the platform using Figma.
Iterative Design
The design process involved making many rounds of changes and testing to improve the user interface. Feedback from potential users played a crucial role in refining the user experience. The final design is the result of this iterative process.
Finally
This project aimed to design a user-friendly and visually appealing UI for a food sharing platform, addressing user needs and preferences. The UI design is an integral part of the broader development of a functional food sharing platform.
